On August 26, 2026, the US State Department and Treasury added Autistici/Inventati to the list of Specially Designated Global Terrorists. Of course, this is complete bullshit. They have run free email, websites, blogs, and mailing lists for movements and organizers since 2001. Their work is fundamentally about enabling communications, which is why they were targeted.
Two days later the .org registry took autistici.org offline. PayPal froze their account. Banca Etica, their bank since 2018, closed the account because keeping it open would put the bank’s other 130,000 members at risk of US sanctions. No Italian court ordered any of it, and the Interior Ministry has said Italy has no obligation to enforce US sanctions here. On September 6, Autistici/Inventati shut down every service they run, something like 16,000 mailboxes, 10,000 blogs, 5,500 mailing lists, and 1,500 sites.
When the domain went dark we moved. The site you are reading now is the new one. It looks different, it reads better on a phone, and it is a little more grown up than the one before it. But nothing else about us has changed. We are still doing the same shifts with the same people at the same location.
